These cuts contradict the rest of the platform promises. There is simply no way that the BC Cons will be able to fund major new health care infrastructure, including a new Surrey children’s hospital and 5,000 new long-term care beds by 2030, based on their capital plan. #bcpoli.

public health care spending needs to grow annually by about 5% in order to maintain the SAME level of health care services. the Cons. proposes to increase health care spending $900m next year (2025/26) and $500m in 2026/27– 2.5% and 1.3%. This = major cuts #bcpoli.

It is like comparing apples and oranges. The BC NDP and BC Greens have provided us clear detailed answers that you would expect, while the BC Conservatives have not answered our questions and their platform doesn't add up. #bcpoli.

Thanks for the coverage @richardzussman the BC Cons platform was released days before the election to avoid scrutiny. The proposal to cut health capital contradicts their promises to build a new Surrey children’s hospital and 5,000 new long-term care beds by 2030. #bcpoli.

NEW - The BC Health Coalition says the Conservative platform translates to spending health care cuts in real terms. The financials in the plan do not account for growing and aging population in order to maintain the same level of health care services. #bcpoli.

I'm joining @CKNW @simisara980 7:35am tomorrow to discuss BC Conservatives' proposed health care spending cuts from their platform. Also: BC Cons want BC to embrace Sask and Quebec's surgical privatization direction––provinces that have among the longest waits in Canada #bcpoli.

This is another example of how private health care costs more but means less access to services. The evidence is everywhere #bcpoli.

The predictions are coming true:.✅payouts to for-profit staffing agencies are 📈.✅nurses are flocking to them for better pay & work conditions.✅BC’s govt is increasingly dependent. Worst of all, #bcpoli is trying to hide it from the public😶‍🌫️.My latest👇.

“The worst-case scenario is that the lobbyist group that represents the private long-term care providers, which is the BC Care Providers, would hijack this process and would be in charge of shaping these mechanisms that were supposed to be implemented to hold them accountable.".

The BC government will pay a big accounting firm up to $1.5 million to tell it how to fix the long-term care funding model. Some observers doubt the consultants will get it right #bcpoli @TheTyee
