One of the biggest challenges to global health remains maternal deaths. We must highlight the critical gap in research funding in this arena.
There should be public outrage, frankly, over the fact that OB/GYN departments receive only 1% of NIH research funding. OB/GYN and our specialties provide the majority of care and surgery women receive in a lifetime, but ONE PERCENT of the research dollars. This is a crisis.
