This wouldn’t be protectionist. It would be a reset—one that reaffirms fairness, reduces tension, and revitalizes multilateralism. Reciprocity was the GATT’s promise. Now’s the time to finally deliver on it. #Trade #Tariffs #GATT #WTO #USMCA #GlobalTrade #Geoeconomics.

Why now?. 📉 Businesses need predictability.🔗 Supply chains are shifting.🛡️ China is challenging the system.💬 Trade diplomacy is fraying. A new reciprocity pact among trusted partners would stabilize and modernize the rules-based order.

The solution isn’t more tariffs. It’s true reciprocity:.✅ Harmonize tariffs across the US, EU, Japan, UK, Canada, Australia.✅ Remove remaining carve-outs.✅ Establish a clear, level playing field for advanced economies.

Decades of trade liberalization left us with a patchy tariff regime:.🧩 The US has an average tariff of ~3.4%.🧩 The EU? ~5.1%.🧩 Japan and Korea still protect key sectors. Even among allies, tariff asymmetries persist—creating resentment and mistrust.
