AMC Board Member @JaimeChamberl20 on the effects of higher tariffs on tomatoes as a result of leaving the Tomato Suspension Agreement, and what this would mean for Santa Cruz County. Worth a read (español):

President Trump’s reckless trade war is back. Leaving the Tomato Suspension Agreement means a 17% tariff hike, 50,000 threatened jobs in AZ & TX, and higher grocery prices for Arizona families. We won’t stand by while Arizona pays the price.

The AMC had previously joined a coalition letter to Department of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick urging him to reconsider this decision, which you can read here:

Despite the fact that the agreement has been terminated, the Arizona-Mexico Commission's hope is that the Trump Administration will work in good faith to negotiate a new agreement.

Today, the U.S. Dept. of Commerce announced the U.S. withdrawal from the Tomato Suspension Agreement, which will result in 17% tariff taxes on tomatoes imported from Mexico. @GovernorHobbs was joined by affected business leaders and elected officials in denouncing this decision.
