My heart beat loudly, like it could hear me. Then… silence. Suffocating silence. From the corner of the room, a faint silhouette emerged tall, featureless. My phone slipped, light flaring once before dimming. "Next time, you might not be so lucky," the voice whispered.

"You shouldn’t have come home tonight." Cold sweat ran down my spine. My instincts screamed to leave. The voice grew heavier, like it was inside the walls. "Why do you ignore me?" I backed into a corner. Every shadow seemed to move against me.

It came again, closer, almost at my ear. "Turn around..." I slowly turned, eyes straining in the darkness. Nothing. Just shadows stretching across the walls. I told myself it was imagination, nerves, anything but the truth. But the whisper didn’t stop.
