70 years ago today, a Sands Hotel dancer named Sally McCloskey climbed to the top of Mount Charleston in Nevada and performed an interpretive dance while an atomic bomb exploded behind her, just 40 miles away.
Squirrels aren't negatively affected by the toxins in poisonous mushrooms. As they eat them it helps distribute the spores so more grow. They stick bits of mushrooms to tree branches to dry them out before they cache them in the ground, which also benefits the forest. So cool.

An incredibly rare and beautiful deep sea sighting from a few days ago - The Giant Phantom Jellyfish. Spotted only 110 times in the last 100 years. It's 'head' is over a meter across and it's ribbon-like tentacles can grow more than 10 meters in length.
