I've loved Safeguard since I first learned about it. Damn thing looks like the ruins of an alien temple.

Remote Sprint Launch site. Owner is a total nutterbutter. Take the tour to hear him bitch about not being getting paid $1,000 to show his missile mockup at an airshow, how the Sandy Hook shooting was staged, or how he doesn't want "the gays" involved in his World Peace Project.

I used to think that meant the desert floor was turned into a sheet of glass, but it I later learned it was more like molten slag that fell and splattered everywhere in giant globules.

This truck would only carry the three stages of the Minuteman II and III missiles. The warhead and RV were transported separately and mounted to the missile once it was placed in the silo.

Minuteman Transporter Erector truck - 80 were built by Boeing, GMC, and Cessna to haul ICBMs along public roads to and from their launch silos. The trucks had air conditioning, but only for the missile, and were powered by a V12 engine.

I love icebreakers. While I'm drawn to the water, I have a few hangups that make tough, brutish ships appealing to me. Here I see safety. I am so so so happy she decided to make a stop in Seattle on her long trip from Florida to her new homeport in Juneau.

Temple of Doomsday Among the ICBM fields of North Dakota looms what remains of the Safeguard anti-ballistic missile system. Once in command of over 150 megatons of Spartan and Sprint interceptors, it operated for less than a year and cost a whopping $5.8 Billion ($34B in 2025)

I love bridges. They represent the sheer effort we are willing to put forth to connect, over innumerable obstacles and challenges. Astoria-Megler Bridge connecting Astoria, Oregon to Washington state across the mouth of the Columbia River.

Seen here are the remnants of russian Kalibir and Tochka missiles downed by air defenses in Kyiv. They each carry warheads of 500kg and 2000kg are are accurate to 300 feet, yet they continuously fall upon residential buildings, schools, and hospitals.

I'd have never guessed my first Banksy sighting would be in the bombed-out rubble of Borodyanka, Ukraine as we stopped to buy boots and gear for defenders we were visiting. 🇺🇦🇺🇸
