Btw, Tala’s ability to adjust her timbre is INCREDIBLE. I can’t emphasize enough that this is extremely hard to do realistically. Honestly, even analyzing timbre is SO damn difficult since it’s basically a complex musical term for the WAY someone sounds. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

Back to actual analysis! This moment might just be the hardest in which to distinguish the two Zari’s. Here’s a hint: the lower timbre of this Zari’s yell compared to the previous shrieks indicates that this is probably Robo-Zari. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

Btw, not exactly analysis, but I think it goes without saying that a robot probably wouldn’t shriek in a warbled way like this. This is Zari 2.0. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

“style” of speech. Zari 2.0 might actually be the best example of this, since she’s so consistently written to speak in a radically different way than the other characters, yet never in a way that feels unconvincing. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

that keep a scene cohesive and work to casually characterize the characters. Legends (and so many other writers!) deserves more recognition for its minor dialogue moments which work overall to keep the scenes coherent and give the characters a realistic #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

consistent about this. But that’s really no surprise considering that the writers write some of the best conversational dialogue I’ve ever heard. We all love to give credit to big speeches and stuff, but we often fail to praise the minor moments of dialogue #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

Also, note how Robo-Zari says “help me, you idiots, don’t just stand there!” In Legends of Tomorrow, the “nice” characters rarely insult each other unironically/unhumorously. As far as dialogue conventions go, watch a few episodes. Legends is actually very #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

When Zari tackles Zari to the ground, what do you see? Oh yes, CLENCHED TEETH. The Zari on the ground is Robo-Zari. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

Just to reiterate: This is Tala acting as a robotic cl*ne of Zari 2.0 who is doing an impression of Zari 2.0 . AMAZING. The levels of subtext are so complex and she frickin’ NAILS IT. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

The fight begins! When the first Zari speaks, she speaks in a noticeably exaggerated high-pitched voice. It doesn’t sound natural. THIS IS ROBO-ZARI DOING AN IMPRESSION OF ZARI 2.0. Note the vague air of mocking in the tone of voice. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

This IS analysis - note that Zari 2.0 presses her lips tightly together when she’s pissed. Robo-Zari doesn’t do this - she clenches her teeth when she’s annoyed. You see this more in Paranoid Android, but you see it here too. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

This isn’t analysis, I just love Zari 2.0’s little squeak before slapping Robo-Zari. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

When the Zari’s slap each other, Zari 2.0 says “ow!” in a notably higher pitch than Robo-Zari. KEEP THIS IN MIND. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

Meanwhile, Zari 2.0 flails her hands while she walks down the stairs, which is much more natural and characteristic of a human being. Her gait is less even than Robo-Zari’s. #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

The first thing I took account of in this scene was how Tala positioned her body when playing the two Zari’s. Robo-Zari holds herself very rigidly, with her arms and legs fairly straight and evenly spaced. ROBO-ZARI DOES NOT SWAY HER HANDS WHEN SHE WALKS #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow

Well, I was! (And NOT because I’m obsessed. Well…maybe a little.) And here’s why: (Spoiler alert - it’s a combination of Tala’s great acting and the screenwriters’ great writing.) #SaveLegendsOfTomorrow
