If you’ve ever travelled through Heathrow T5, do you ever fantasise about having a surprise party or a wedding or a big noisy messy family gathering in these achingly empty enormous spaces on the way down to the trains? What are they for? No? Just me then.

Sally Wainwright is an absolute genius. BBC #riotwomen could have been an embarrassing cliche. But no. It’s unbeatable edge of seat drama with truth and heart that absolutely nobody else is addressing. I’m in awe of the combined talent. 🌟

PS Waverley passing under Tower Bridge at night has to rank as one of the best sights (and sounds) in London. Or, for that matter, anywhere in Britain.

For those of you who think great diving beetles might make a good pet. Caught this guy eating one of my minnows last night.

The internet shutdown in Afghanistan happened in real time in my online poetry class on Monday. The women's accounts dropped out one by one. The last to go was Neda. Just before her image froze, I promised to put her poem on Twitter. She's 11. Online was her last hope of

Interesting history re #DigitalID The Clarence Willcock case in 1951. He refused to present his ID to a police officer, arguing civil liberty was at the heart of the war’s purpose. He won in court. Subsequent public objections to compulsory ID in peacetime led to its end.

SO brilliant. My dad always used to point this out when I was a child, boasting it as the only tree in Argyle street. I’m guessing self seeded way back in the day and just avoided being weeded, ( ashes are notorious for putting it about) but now listed. Hooray! Great choice.
So, with a massive 27% of the over 30,000 votes cast, this is officially the Woodland Trust Tree of the Year for 2025! Thanks to the thousands of you who voted for it. Cont./ #glasgow #treeoftheyear #woodlandtrust #tree #argylestreetashtree
