New Orleans is in trouble. Our streets are broken, crime is out of control, & too many families are struggling. We can’t keep making excuses—it’s time for real solutions. I entered public service to do the work. That’s why I’m running for mayor. Visit

Juneteenth is a time to celebrate freedom, and to honor those who fought for it through the law. I stand on the shoulders of Black lawyers from New Orleans like Louis Martinet, who helped found the Plessy v. Ferguson challenge and used his voice to fight injustice.

It says a lot about the state of our city that we’re calling it “progress” when just half of our people don’t feel afraid for their physical safety every day. That’s not progress—that’s a crisis.

Some people call me Judge. Some people call me Dad. But the title that really keeps me humble? Boo Boo. That’s what my grandkids call me-and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, pops, papas, paw paws, father figures, and yes… the Boo Boos.

These are real skills that lead to real jobs and real second chances. The results speak for themselves. Graduates are employed, rebuilding their lives, and not returning to prison. This is not leniency. It is smart, effective justice that improves public safety & reduces crime.

So we launched the Orleans Parish Re-Entry Court. Working with Angola Prison and the Louisiana Department of Corrections, we built a program that provides vocational training and nationally recognized certifications to incarcerated individuals.

🧵 #FlashbackFriday In 2010, Judge Laurie White and I set out to address a major flaw in our justice system. Too many non-violent offenders were released from prison with no skills, no support, and no real chance at success, which almost guaranteed they would return.

At the Second Chances Summit hosted by the @PelicansNBA last week, it was powerful to reconnect with so many advocates I’ve worked alongside for years. Seeing organizations across New Orleans come together to provide real support and second chances is exactly what we need.

As a judge, I created Louisiana’s first Re-entry Court to help incarcerated individuals learn skilled trades—so they could return home not just with hope, but with a job waiting for them.

Had a wonderful evening at Fête en Blanc with the @FQBA at @shopatjaxs. Big thanks to my friends Dickie Brennan and Suzette Toledano for introducing me to so many incredible business owners who help power our city’s French Quarter tourism with amazing food and hospitality.

Every New Orleanian deserves real solutions, not the same excuses we’ve been asked to accept for years. Let’s keep working together to build the city we all deserve.

Had a great time at the Holy Cross Neighborhood Association Block Party on Sunday!☀️. It was energizing to be out in the community, connecting with neighbors and hearing how our city can do better to serve our people. #NOLA #Arthur4NOLA

The law imposed harsher penalties for oral sex than for intercourse, and I called it what it was: unconstitutional, excessively punitive, and rooted in outdated moral judgments.

In 1999, I struck down a section of Louisiana’s discriminatory “crime against nature” statute, which targeted people—especially LGBTQ individuals—for engaging in consensual acts.

Grateful to see NFL families, business leaders, and golf lovers come together for a great cause at City Park Bayou Oaks. Special thanks to founder Ms. Angelique Arcuri for her vision and dedication in making this event a success.
