Who wants to help me make a game with the N64 build's aesthetic? The pre-rendered trees, how they all nestle into the hilly terrain, how dense and moody it all looks, the sword-wielding character... It's pure magic. I can't stop watching this.
Cancelled Rareware Game:
Rare spent 16 months developing an RPG called Project Dream -- first for SNES, then upgrading it to N64. It ultimately got reworked into Banjo Kazooie. This music was intended for a map screen.

It's a shame that the N64/PS1/Saturn anesthetics haven't quite hit the Indie scene the same way the 8/16 Bit styles have.
I want more low poly video games! Because they're not realistic, it let's your mind fill in the gaps, and when done right, they could really look good!
@ArloStuff
As 8 and 16 bit ascetic became more popular, I have been waiting patiently for Ps1/N64/Dreamcast looks to have their nostalgic resurgence. They just emit a mood and atmosphere hard to replicate but that made their worlds feel vast, lived in and real

I remember 10 years ago, "high profile" internet people were dropping takes like "the entire N64 era of games are bad. That's why you never see indie games imitating it."
10 years later, /now all the N64 kids are making games/, funny how that works.
@ArloStuff
If you're really interested in making a game, I'd be down to help.
I've actually had some success in the very specific niche of retro styled games based on Youtubers.
