A milestone for people & the planet! The @Europarl_EN has backed a proposal for a new corporate accountability law. We're one step closer to strong rules to prevent companies harming the environment or #HumanRights. This could be ground-breaking - but the fight is not over yet.

What a day. Today’s vote on responsible businesses is a victory for workers, the environment, for companies that are serious about sustainability and for the European Parliament as a whole. A huge thank you to all those involved in this project - inside @Europarl_EN & outside it.

Communities around the world must have the right to say no to fossil fuel projects. @eve_chantel explains that to tackle the #ClimateCrisis, we need a strong EU 🇪🇺 law that gives people the power to stand up to big polluters.

NEW 🚨 French waste management giant @Veolia is accused of buying a “toxic” Colombian landfill & has failed to address the risks to defenders who speak out about pollution. We need the EU 🇪🇺 to pass a strong #CSDDD law to stop corporate abuse like this. https://t.co/oYNvL6151z

🚨🚨BREAKING: @Shell only paid 22p per person in tax to the UK, whilst making £33 billion in record breaking profit. During an #EnergyCrisis that has put millions into poverty. The system is broken. Let @Shell know how you feel here: https://t.co/ik5kbG4uDA #WRBYP #ShellAGM

.@Shell made £33bn profit in 2022. That could pay for the energy bills of HALF of all UK households. Instead? Shell paid just £15m in tax to the UK. That's just 22p per Brit! My new film with @Global_Witness They're richer because you're poorer! #ShellAGM #WRBYP

Fact: Europeans want a law to make companies act on climate. New polling shows almost ¾ of people in Europe would support a law that requires companies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Will the EU 🇪🇺 deliver? https://t.co/jxlzmhc6sQ

Voluntary corporate commitments to tackle the #ClimateCrisis have not worked. The EU’s new corporate accountability law needs to create a credible threat of legal action for companies that fail to take action on climate, says our @ariannegriffth in @TRF. https://t.co/ZJKTj9QmYG
