Please pray for safe travels for Archbishop Weisenburger and the 30 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of Detroit who will witness the pallium ceremony as they travel to Rome today!

Archbishop Weisenburger will join seven other newly-appointed American bishops, as well as several dozen archbishops from around the world, in Rome as they receive the pallium from the Holy Father.

The pallium is a special vestment worn by metropolitan archbishops that signifies the office of their episcopacy and their role as shepherds. The tradition of the pallium can be traced back to as early as the 6th century.

On Sunday, June 29, Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger will receive the sacred pallium from Pope Leo XIV during a special Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
