On behalf of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, I offer condolences and assurance of prayer for the entire community of Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis as well as the Archdiocese of St. Paul-Minneapolis amid the incomprehensible violence against children at prayer.

“Unless you become like little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of God” (cf. Mt 18:3). We are called to be innocent as children.

“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you” (Jn 15:12). Self-sacrificing love is the way of Jesus. He commands us to love others as he loves us.

“Christ leads us through the narrow gate: let us give thanks and praise! For behold, some are last who will be first, and some are first who will be last” (cf. Lk 13:22–30). If we follow Jesus, he will show us the way.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Teach us to love God and all our sisters and brothers as you do. Amen.

“Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord (Rom 12:11). Saint Paul admonishes us to be Spirit-filled evangelizers who are fully alive in Christ!.

“The word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” (Heb 4:12–13). God’s Word penetrates the hardness of our hearts.

“For us there is one God, the Father, from whom all things are and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are and through whom we exist” (1 Cor 8:6). Come, let us adore Him.

“I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing!” (Lk 12:49). The peace of Christ burns in the hearts of those who love him.

“Seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides, says the Lord” (Mt 6:33). If we acknowledge that God comes first, everything we need will follow.
