These stats reinforce the importance of HSCP teams to support older people at home & prevent illness /admission. Transformation is possible with clever implementation. Meet lots of people over 85 who want to proactively prevent deterioration through behavioural intervention etc
2% of the population (aged over 85) use this amount of hospital bed days because acute illness in this age group is accompanied by a physical and cognitive decline that will persist until remedied. Properly staffed offsite rehabilitation beds would transform our hospitals.
