Link to our new papers in Matt’s thread below. We show hippocampal activation in a sequential navigation task that can’t be mapped, and that people can shortcut without distal cues to help them map the environment, unless sections are trained separately. Then you need distal cues.

Our first neuroimaging paper is out! We show, contrary to some theories of spatial learning, that the hippocampus and caudate are active when people navigate a route without the opportunity to map their environment.
