The international @SWAIS2C team is gearing up for a second attempt at retrieving seafloor sediment cores from below the Ross Ice Shelf. The traverse is on its way to set up the KIS3 camp.

The SWAIS2C team successfully drilled through 580m of ice, obtained the longest sediment core retrieved from the Siple Coast, & gathered crucial information in their mission to understand the West Antarctic Ice Sheet’s past response to climate warming 🙌
