2/2 We covered good ground including digitisation, digitalisation and digital transformation and how co-design might lead to better technology solutions. We concluded with a practice exercise capturing requirements for church software and turning to user stories. Good times! 🖥️.

1/2 Very enjoyable lecture and discussion at the United Lutheran Seminary this eve. We explored Digital Theology through a Computer Science lens and thought about how Computer Science might influence Theology and vice versa. 🧵.

4/4: What theological considerations are church leaders making when taking these decisions?. How are these theological considerations influencing tech design? What could the secular tech world learn from these decision-making experiences?.

3/4: At the moment, many churches use off-the-shelf meeting (e.g. Zoom, Teams) or video (e.g. YouTube) platforms to stream services. Would we be having the same conversation if more churches had bespoke online platforms? How might co-design help us better meet user reqs?.

2/4: Where online is pitched as something other than in-person or face-to-face, I can't help but wonder what software innovations might quickly be possible, using existing patterns and technologies, to reduce this perception. How can we make online feel more in-person?.

1/4: Interesting article discussing the end of online church provision (by many, but not all, churches) as "an act of exclusion":. I was hugely moved by the story of Ms Pat declaring "they remember me". Some further thoughts from a DT perspective. 🧵.

Another fab read by @pmphillips:. Loved the end quote: "I still think that the world of tech can be a holy place. It depends who builds it. It depends who fashions it. It depends on the church having the guts to be involved and embedded in its creation".
