The murder of Roy Alphard, I also assume, is being used to remove the possibility of anyone proving/disproving the identity of one or the other.

And that’s also assuming that the Emilia and Anastasia camps will even be disqualified (or have mounting pressure to be disqualified) by the fact there are now two individuals believed to be the legitimate heir to the throne. (It would make sense for them to be removed over this)

It’s actually a much smarter scheme than relying solely on Melty as a puppet ruler, because the moment she is exposed it’s over, and you also risk just installing Felt by default. Unless there is an actual reason for such risk, like Felt not really being Fillore.

Essentially, if true, Capella’s plan can be reframed like this; Eliminate Crusch by having her accept help from the Dragon Church. Eliminate Anastasia and Emilia by revealing “Fillore” and narrowing the Royal Selection down to the two potential royals. Then eliminate them too—

If the real Fillore has been dead all along or is still missing, and Felt was actually a bastard and not a trueborn princess; Capella would be the last of her line and the throne would be hers by right.

Rather than Melty being used as a puppet ruler, I could see Capella reveal herself and do rugpull that she is Melty in disguise all on her own; only if Felt is actually a royal bastard and *not* the real Fillore Lugunica.

Since we now have direct confirmation that the Royal Selection cannot and will not continue in the event of true royal heritage being proven, and the throne will pass via cognatic primogeniture; the chance is elevated, in my opinion, for the scenario I previously posed.
