Today marks 1 year since the generally recognized start of the industry shutdown. While individual companies had announced postponements or cancellations, the majority of theatres were waiting, essentially, for someone else to tell them to. The dominos fell one year ago today.

A year ago we all thought we were taking a few weeks of mandatory vacation, and now we are here. We live in a totally different world that none of us could have predicted. We’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I’m grateful for that.

I think I need to put this as plainly as I can, and I apologize for shouting: PEOPLE WHO WORK IN THE LIVE PERFORMING ARTS AREN'T JUST 'NOT WORKING' – THEY ARE *PREVENTED* FROM ENGAGING IN THE WORK AND CAREERS FOR WHICH THEY WERE TRAINED.
