3. You deserve to be treated with respect by agents. Again, most of the horror stories are in my DMs but just a perrennial reminder that an agent who belittles you or is rude to you is a bullet dodged. This applies to how they treat you in an R&R too.

I did miss some, and I felt terrible when I did. I also loved when students I recommended got hired… Sometimes jobs are similar and we DO understand what it’s like 😒.

I loved working with students, but sometimes I was disheartened when I’d get nasty emails back from people I rejected or told they needed to work on their resumes more. But I still replied to every email I could.

I took a lot of my personal time outside of my day job to coach students with potential on interview techniques, how to improve their resumes, and how to stand out among the other applicants. And competition was fierce for those few positions.

When I’d present on campus, students would follow me around and sometimes corner me in bathrooms to give me their resumes. Because I was a low level recruiter I’d only get a bonus if the student I passed on got hired.
