GAS THIS GAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS ITTRTT!?! PERFECT THREAD ABOUT WHY IZUOCHA IS SO SPECIAL AND YOU AIN'T A REAL FAN IF YOU DON'T START GASSING
My favorite interpretation of the #Izuocha dynamic is that fundamentally, they are two similar but different brands of self sacrifice, and they end up saving each other through their growth ppl view them as basically the same character, but I think the differences are key

There’s a lot more to this as well that I didn’t get into. Like how Himiko and Tomura are both key players in Izuku and Ochako growing in this way, and how they both share the “weirdness” that comes with wanting to save villains and how that also reflects their self sacrifice

Ultimately, they save each other They literally reflect their character arcs back at each other, and they both learn exactly what is needed to help save the other. This is the core of why I love their dynamic so much. I find their parallel journeys so beautiful

And in the end, when Ochako becomes the very kind of hero she’s trying to rescue? When she pushes everyone away and tries to shoulder the burden of Himiko’s death on her own? Izuku reflects back what he’s learned, what *she* taught him, to save her in return.

Through his loved ones he learns the lesson of relying on others and letting himself be saved when he’s in danger, he learns that he can’t do it all alone anymore And who is the largest driving force that helps him accept this lesson? Ochako Uraraka. Ochako saves him.

And then a large part of Izuku’s arc is him learning to rely on people and let people protect *him* just as much as he protects them. The story punishes him for doing things on his own, shouldering the burden alone, and not relying on the people who care for him

And how does that get expressed? By Ochako becoming the hero that isn’t being saved, who is sacrificing in spite of her own need, who is keeping herself closed off for the sake of others

I believe both of these characters have arcs that naturally “solve” the other’s problem. A large part of Ochako’s arc is her learning that heroes need saving too. Who saves the heroes who are sacrificing themselves for others? Who sacrifices for *their* sake?

HOLY SHIT THIS PERSON IS COOKING UP A STORM!?! I've said it once and I'll say it again izuocha is way more peak than I give it credit for. Love how izuocha fan analysis like this always make me see that
Even though their drives come from very similar places of wanting to save and seeing people smile, even though they are both expressing themselves through this drive The core of Izuku’s sacrifice is an expression of self, while the core of Ochako’s is a repression of self.
