Woke up to the news that my friend Brent Renaud was shot and killed while reporting in Ukraine. I’m still in shock and don’t really have words right now, but he was brilliant and kind and funny. This is a senseless loss, among many many other senseless deaths.

My friend Brent Renaud died today, killed while working as a photojournalist in Ukraine. Brent’s work excelled. But his friendship was better: He was humble, kind, gentle. He, almost frustratingly, always wanted to hear about others rather than talk about himself. 1/2

I don’t have enough words today about the loss of my friend, Brent Renaud. He was an amazing journalist, yes, but he was an even better person. Humble, empathetic, and really funny. I cannot believe he’s gone.
Our Nieman Fellow Brent Renaud was gifted and kind, and his work was infused with humanity. He was killed today outside Kiev, and the world and journalism are lesser for it. We are heartsick.

Brent Renaud is a documentarian whose intimate films range from Arkansas to Afghanistan. Today @niemanfdn he shared a moving account of his life & what he seeks in his work—“thoughtful stories about disenfranchised people.” Here’s some of that work https://t.co/Rhsfp6UHOC

The Globe is hiring a second higher ed reporter. It's possibly the best place in the country to cover this fascinating, ever-changing industry. Happy to answer questions! #journalismjobs

This is such a great group of hires! So exciting and wishing you the best of luck!
I’m one month into my job @baltimorebanner and excited to announce our first round of newsroom hires -- an impressive group of editors and reporters. They have deep local ties and the kind of experience and knowledge we need to cover the challenging issues facing the city.
