If you grow your own chicken, you are 100% likely to have nothing to do with factory farming, and you still get to eat chicken.
Actually if you don't eat chicken over the course of your life (75 years) you have a 91% chance of preventing 900 chickens from being bred into a factory farm. So it does actually make a difference on an individual level.
