I’ve signed up and I’m doing it again this year in October. I’m sure to be in some pain after overseas trip will leave me underdone in the lead up. All the same, all fundraising for the fabulous cause of Run DIPG.

When things come together with a very experienced surgeon. At the pub at 4pm- and confides that it was a top 3 list ever. Chuffed. It was indeed a big whole team effort.

Was on xarelto so spinal not an option. No real respiratory history - so thought likely cardiac wheeze. Asked he be reassessed as clearly had major organ dysfunction and cease his xarelto next time if we proceed . Turns out now he’s booked for a CABG. Stick w your gut instinct.

Cautionary tale: had a 74yr old present for foot surgery. Saw him in the bay. Looked terrible. Apparently had seen respiratory specialist and cardiac/ and he was ok to proceed. I listened to his chest as he was audibly wheezy. Did cardiac exam. Looked like cardiac failure 1/2.

Today. A massive inaugural CRAFT cadaver & live model regional teaching day. Lots of organising and being part of the faculty has been rewarding to help teach the next and current generation of regional anaesthetists. Great to connect with past and present colleagues. I’m stuffed.

With the nsw ASMOF industrial action coming up. I’ve chosen - while supporting all the tough workers and the difficult decision to strike- I will be running the theatres with 2 other VMO’s. hopefully this means all urgent and emergency work continues to take place.
