Great to meet Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe, NPP General Secretary in Kalutara District and hear first-hand about the district’s development priorities and its people.

Visited the historic Chinafort ‘Pathe’ Gem Market in Beruwala, a vibrant hub of trade and craftsmanship with deep historic roots. The gem trade continues to sustain thousands of livelihoods across Sri Lanka’s Southern coast.

Honoured to visit the historic Masjid-Al-Abrar Mosque in Beruwala, among the oldest in Sri Lanka. A powerful reminder of the country’s centuries-long tradition of faith, coexistence, and diversity.

A privilege to visit the historic Kande Vihara Temple in Aluthgama and meet with the Chief Prelate. Grateful for the opportunity to learn about the temple’s enduring role in promoting peace and faith in such a diverse community.

In Sri Lanka’s southern coast this week for a two-day visit. Looking forward to meeting community & political leaders, & to experiencing the region’s rich cultural and religious heritage. Here I am at Lunuganga Estate, the former residence of renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa.

Marking #WorldChildrensDay with a visit to The Tree House International, where I opened a new wing for children with special needs - the only international school in 🇱🇰 dedicated to them. I was moved by the care, dedication & evidence-based support provided.

Conversations with Malaiyaha Gender Activists reminded me that women and LGBTIQ+ community carry immense burden - yet remain unnoticed. Their fight for dignity and justice continues.
