Youngkins admin wrote their own Social Studies standards behind closed doors with unknown authors. Trying to replace Soc. St. standards written over 18 months in transparent process with VA teachers, professors, stakeholders, and 1000s of public comment. Pushing through VBOE now!

VA Standards completely rewritten at the last moment. Replaced by staff from the Governor’s office. It is NOT the original draft. Urge the Virginia Board of Education to reject these rewritten standards upcoming meeting on Nov. 17.

Youngkin's team at the dept. of education released rewritten history/social science standards. While there's some overlap, it's def different from the one under development for the last two years. E.g. the before/after on how kindergarteners are taught patriotism.
