Hi #worcestershirehour :Access Equipment: When you need to gain access to height, then make sure the equipment used is suitable for the job. Where you need to use towers or powered access, then they must be built, operated & checked by trained personnel, with records kept.

Are your premises safe? Fire can break out anywhere if certain measures are not taken! A Fire Risk Assessment will drive out the shortfalls in your protection regime; it's a legal requirement for commercial operations & must be written if you employ 5 people. #worcestershirehour

Stop fire before it starts: The best form of preventing fire is to keep the 3 elements it requires, away from each other, fuel, ignition & oxygen. You cannot do much about the oxygen, but you can ensure that ignition & fuel are kept separate to a large extent #worcestershirehour

Hi #worcestershirehour We know that fire doesn't discriminate, so make sure that you test your fire alarms on a regular basis, so that you get the earliest possible warning in case of fire. All commercial buildings should have a fire risk assessment and necessary procedures

BFN #worcestershirehour & thanks for RT's Check at the point of use that your H & S Management system works, doesn’t cause confusion & is fit for purpose. The findings from these checks will confirm that everything's OK or will highlight those systems needing review & change

Means of Escape: In case of fire, it's important all occupants are evacuated quickly. Earliest possible alarms, clear & well-lit escape routes, doors that are not blocked, clear signage. You will also need to know that everyone is out, so a register may help #worcestershirehour.

When is a Fire Door not a fire door? When it doesn’t fit closely, doesn’t have three hinges, doesn’t have fire resistant fittings, glazing, doesn’t have its intumescent strip fitted, isn't labelled, doesn’t close automatically & of course when it’s wedged open #worcestershirehour

Hi #worcestershirehour Fire Detection is better earlier than later. In populated well used areas, a simple shout of fire may be all that's required, however for areas that are unmanned or where fire could break out un-noticed, then some form of automatic detection may be required
