Look, I know that porting the Nintendo DS version of Super Mario 64 would have required Nintendo to update the textures a bit (vs the simply blurry textures of the original). But come on, there were plenty of improvements made to that version that would have made it so worth it!

I actually had to double-check that this quote was correct. It is. It comes from 2013, after the Wii U was already being considered a commercial failure and the 3DS had gone through a lot of troubles at launch.

Just look at Bowser, even his DS model feels so much more up to date than the original. In fact, all enemies have updated 3D models on the DS version to match the current styling of the Mario brand. Some even go from being 2D sprites to full 3D models!

Ok Square-Enix, this was a fun surprise. Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster on mobile includes... an AR battle mode 😂
You can set up the enemies you want and turn on the camera to battle it out whenever you want (in my case, from a train 😝).
Also, the rearranged music rocks!

Actually I'd say the DS version tried to be less realistic, and instead takes some further steps to look like classic Super Mario. In any case, this whole topic seems pretty divisive. I do wish there was an option to choose between the original game or the DS version though.
