11 years later, I would probably have done a lot of things differently with Uncanny Erotique to Amorotica but that era is special and untouchable to me. I hope anyone else that made a track or album back then finds that level of appreciation for their own work, flawed or not.

there was like a weird egalitarian quality to vaporwave, before algorithms built and leveled audiences. and it was truly music by the people, folk music for the digital age.

so much of it is gone forever from Bandcamp and Soundcloud; for haters, vaporwave became synonymous with laziness, and I think a lot of artists were/still are embarrassed by that era, of having even released a vw album. it's really a shame.

and that wasn't a bad thing either. for a scene that everyone characterized as "slowed down Diana Ross samples", there were a lot of interpretations and attempts that sounded radically different from one another.
