After serving as Chinese Ambassador to the US for over 8 years, I will be leaving my post and returning to China this week. It's an honor of a lifetime to represent my country in the US. I want to thank everyone who has supported my performance of duties over the years.
When asked in my interview with Axios and HBO, I send my message to the American people and American Government as follows: First, I want to thank the American people, American businesses and American institutions for their support and help to China in combating the virus.
I am old enough to remember what President Nixon said during his first visit to
#China
:" It is NOT our common beliefs that have brought us together here, but our common interests and our common hopes...
For those people and institutions who are accusing China of hiding and concealing things, normally they are the ones who are always hiding and concealing something from the public. I don't know what is under their dirty carpet.
On the flight back to DC from Anchorage, you can find the trace of global warming impact on this planet. China and the U.S. can cooperate on the most demanding tasks such as climate change for the good of humanity.
Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army. Over the years, the PLA has been a faithful guardian of China's sovereignty and territorial integrity & a staunch force for world peace and stability. Congratulations to all PLA officers & soldiers!
Over 3,000 lives lost in China and almost 60,000 in the world in the fight against COVID-19, our common enemy. As we grieve our losses, we never forget that the battle still goes on, and we will fight on. But we never doubt that victory will be ours, and the future will be ours.
China holds a national mourning on Saturday for those who died in the combat against COVID-19. Our deepest condolences to those who laid down their lives for the fight and all the victims of the pandemic. Rest in peace!
Glad to talk with
@FareedZakaria
on a range of issues. Will the US be willing to live in peace with another country with different culture, political&economic systems, cooperate on growing global challenges? That's a fundamental question to be answered.
The peak of

may have passed, but we won't leave our friends & partners behind. That's why we're working closely with the US and other countries, contributing our knowledge and experience to secure a victory vs.

#BREAKING
: Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday spoke with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres over phone, urging the international community to take urgent action in the fight against the

Blaming China will not end this pandemic. It is time to focus on the disease and rebuild trust between China and the United States. Read my Op-Ed on The Washington Post:
The Communist Party of

Congratulations!
An important step in the exploration of the mysterious and beautiful universe, and a valuable contribution to the peaceful development and utilization of space resources for all mankind.
We never want any escalation of tension between China and the US. Let's focus on positive things and on our common interests & mutual needs. Let's work together to respond to the global crisis, to save people's lives, to save the future of global economy and the global community
When I go back, I will take with me fond memories of my time in America & the friendship that many of you have given to me. Both China and the US are great nations. It's my hope that we will take a long-term & strategic view of our relations & work for our shared future together.
Congratulations to President Biden on his inauguration! China looks forward to working with the new administration to promote sound & steady development of China-U.S. relations and jointly address global challenges in public health, climate change & growth.

@JoeBiden
Thank you "young ambassadors" from Cascade Elementary School in Utah, for your support to the Chinese people fighting against the
#COVID19
. I am sure we will drive away the virus and embrace the smiles.
I don't know why people like the term
#ColdWar
so much. This serves nobody's real interest & gives no solution to any problem. We are in the 21st century. Why should we allow history to repeat itself when we are faced with so many new challenges?
On
#Xinjiang
, I myself have been to Xinjiang more than once in recent years. I saw a very different picture from some fabrications on the media. Until very recently, the biggest threat to Xinjiang was terrorist attacks.
Just returned to DC. As the Chinese side said, the Anchorage dialogue in the past two days was candid, constructive and helpful. China and the U.S. have differences in many fields, but such differences only justify more effective exchanges and communication in the future.
China's actions are driven by its faith that we're all part of the same community. We must help others, as we are not safe if others are threatened. Our aim is never to be the "leader of the world", because we never believe there should be one. We believe in equality of all.
Second, we are in the same boat. This is a global public health challenge, maybe even more than that. So we have to work together as partners to combat the virus, to restore normalcy to the economy, to build up people's confidence in the global economy,

In today's "Xinjiang is a wonderful land" meeting, several Xinjiang residents shared their real life and work experiences with us.

The Communist Party of

History is a mirror to the future. Just because of our war-torn past, we appreciate keenly the peace we have now, and we will do our utmost to sustain a peaceful future, for ourselves and for the world.
WWII embroiled nearly two-thirds of the global population, and 70 million people lost their lives. China, a major frontline, played an important role in the war. Today it marks the 75th anniversary of the Victory over Japan Day.

Today I'm glad to join my colleagues from Xinjiang to present this wonderful land online.
For over 4 years, no single terrorist attack has happened there. Local economic &social development is thriving.
This is a best rebuttal to lies about Xinjiang
Today is the 99th anniversary of the Communist Party of China. The Party has led

NPC's decision on Hong Kong national security legislation is something imperative and long overdue. It will ensure the sound and sustained implementation of "One Country Two Systems". Read my Op-Ed on Bloomberg:
Sound and stable development of China-US relations bears on the interests of both countries and the whole world. And the future of this relationship depends on the choice of America and concerted efforts of the two sides.
Chinese FM Wang Yi said that China and the US need to ensure a stable transition of their relations against disturbances of all kinds, and strive to resume dialogue, bring ties back on track and rebuild mutual trust for the next stage of bilateral ties.

China and the US have heavy responsibilities not only for ourselves but also for the world. We have to base our policies on a good perception of common interests&growing global challenges, not allow suspicion, fear or hatred to hijack our foreign policy.
to build up a capability to respond to any crises like this. We have shared interests. We are really all part of the same community of nations. We have to build a better future for us all together. Let's do it. Here is the audio link:

Chinese FM Wang Yi:

and the US should not seek to remodel each other. The world should not be viewed in binary thinking, and differences in systems should not lead to a zero-sum game. China will not, and cannot, be another US.
So sad to learn the passing of Professor Ezra Vogel. He was an outstanding scholar on China and an old friend of the Chinese people. Throughout his lifetime he was dedicated to greater mutual understanding between the Chinese and American people
So many people are lining up to bid farewell to Yuan Longping, father of hybrid rice, guardian of China’s food security. Getting countless people out of hunger, he will always rest in the hearts of the Chinese people.
June 1 is International Children's Day. It is a day not just for kids to celebrate, but for adults to pause and reflect: are we doing our best to create a better world for our future generations? Children are our joy and hope. They deserve the best from us.
A major achievement in

September 11 is a day of remembrance. We remember with reverence the victims 19 years ago, the victims of other terrorist attacks and all those who put themselves in harm's way to save others. We remember their spirit of sacrifice & solidarity that holds us together in a crisis.
The fundamental question for America: "Is the US ready to live in peace with another country with a different history, culture&system but with no intention to compete for global dominance with the US?"

As President Xi said, after this whole year we understand more than ever the significance of a community with a shared future for mankind.
We should join hands and support each other to dispel the gloom of the pandemic ASAP and build a better home for all.
Congratulations on 92nd birthday of Chinese People's Liberation Army.

In 1979, Nanjing and St Louis became the first pair of
#sistercities
between China and the US. 40 years on, there are now 277 pairs of sister relationships at different levels and the momentum is still going strong.
Let's review China-US sister city ties through this video.
50 years ago, Ping Pong diplomacy created a unique way of interactions btw China and the US, though we may have far greater differences back then than now.
I believe today, we are in a better position to put aside differences & achieve win-win cooperation.
I took an interview with
@camanpour
and shared my views on China-U.S. relations. As I said in the interview, we hope the Anchorage meeting last week will be the beginning of a long process of dialogue, communication, and hopefully coordination between the two sides.
Diplomats aren't always engaging foreign governments or negotiating int'l treaties. Diplomats of Chinese Embassy in US are also excellent artists, gifted musicians & brilliant dancers. We also have a shadow boxing practitioner. Interested? Stayed tuned

Today the third China International Import Expo is open in Shanghai. In the context of Covid-19, it demonstrates China's sincere desire to share its market opportunities with the world and contribute to global economic recovery. We need to JOIN OUR HANDS.
China will honor its commitments on climate and it's helping other developing countries build capacity.
We also hope to work with the entire int'l community, including the US, to jointly advance global environmental governance and build a community of life for man & Nature.

Mr. John Kerry:
China will honor its pledges on climate change, and will fight this common challenge with its global partners.
Sad to learn the passing of General Brent Scowcroft, and my deep condolences to his family. General Scowcroft was an old friend of the Chinese people with valuable forethought and strategic insight. I met with him many times and personally benefited from his thoughtful guidance.

On China's advice on fighting the pandemic, number one, we must put people's lives and health first. This is the most important thing to do. Number two, we must reject any attempt at taking political advantage of other people's sufferings and enhance international cooperation.
The normalization of the

relationship & its growth over the decades has served the interests of both countries and the world. No one can deny the positive outcome & benefits of it.

A year ago today, Wuhan ended a 76-day lockdown.
Now, the city’s cherry blossom is welcoming heroes who fought for her.
Coming out of quarantine, I was excited to see the cherry blossom in DMV.
Vaccination is speeding up, and hope is spreading.
Take care & enjoy the spring.
We must strive to build mutual trust. Greater understanding on the following will help to do so: 1. China has the right to develop and modernize. 2. It has & will continue to develop and modernize on its own path. 3. China's development is not to challenge / displace the US
The national security law for

At this moment, China and the United States need to recapture the spirit of cooperation from

President Xi: We have strong determination, firm will&solid national strength to deal with challenges. We have sufficient confidence, ability&wisdom to overcome all kinds of risks and tests. No one can stop the historical pace of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Premier Li Keqiang on China-US relations: Our two countries need to put more energy on their common ground and expand converging interests. I hope that China-US relations can be future-oriented, overcome obstacles and move in a positive direction.
Congratulations to Mei Xiang and
