There is no way that flag can be reframed into a positive. Its origins and maintenance were the result of violence against black, indigenous, and other marginalized people globally. People can be proud of what their people did, but can also still refuse to claim that flag.
I’d like to circle back to the conversation last summer about some of y’all reclaiming the flag and what that meant. What does it mean for y’all today? What are y’all proud of and how does that look? What are y’all conserving, preserving, and standing in solidarity with?

So now, when I see people saying “you voted for this” or that “ICE wouldn’t be doing this under a Dem presidency…” where were you during the Obama Years, exactly? There were tons of constitutional violations happening then, too. They were being overfunded then, too.
