I have yet to see the Avengers be portrayed with any form of dignity or real competence in an X-Men comic. If your stories only work when other characters are mischaracterized as ignorant and incompetent fools, I don't consider them good stories.
Unpopular opinion (?) but I hate when the X-Men do the whole "where were you guys during Genosha" thing. It feels like writers intentionally try to make other heroes like the avengers seem uncaring or ignorant so the X-Men can have a "gotcha moment". I find it so corny
