Yesterday, the town of #BrigGlis invited around 80 guests to the historic Stockalper Castle for the ceremonial opening of the #AlpWeek. Afterwards, a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the #ViaAlpina long-distance hiking trail took place at the ZeughausKultur.

The host of the #AlpWeek - the Alpine town of the Year #BrigGlis and its mayor Mathias Bellwald, welcomes us with an apero at the beautiful #Stockalperschloss.

We started the AlpWeek 2022 with with an excursion to the #Simplon pass - which also served to publicise a #petition by various NGOs demanding that dangerous goods transports on all #Alpine routes be shifted from #road to #rail. @alpeninitiative

Another excursion at the #AlpWeek will take the participants to the #Aletsch #glacier to take a look into the #future and ask what other consequences the #melting will have for the #landscape and the people of the region. Join us in Brig-Glis, register today!
