https://t.co/bOG0L7CvPf My pop died yesterday. He lived a long, productive, and influential life. He was a fierce advocate for Fogo Island and for rural fisherman. He helped found the Fogo Island Co-Op and was deeply involved in community advocacy. We will miss him so much 🤍

Also thinking of the crew, and what they’ve endured mentally and physically over the past few days. I can’t begin to imagine the trauma of event like this, to be in a life raft at sea just.. waiting.

As a child of a fishermen, it was impossible not to imagine yourself in the shoes of these families over the last few days. This story ultimately and miraculously has a happy ending, but hits far too close to home 🤍

Despite this, and despite the current state of family medicine in this province and country, I still can say it is a joy and privilege to practice/learn family medicine in rural NL 🤍

Last day as a PGY-1 🥹 It’s hard to believe a year has passed already. Being a family medicine resident is not also smooth sailing; 5 moves in 1 year, off service rotations, and a healthy dose of imposter syndrome to name a few.

It’s bulk garbage pickup season in NL and I feel like you can tell a lot about people about what they’ve got out for collection LOL

Feels like an unpopular opinion these days but I miss family med clinic 🥲 Being off service is good for a change of pace but I’m ready for a good old day of chronic disease management!!

So happy nurses week to my friends, colleagues, classmates, and all the nurses who are working in a system that does not give them the support they need. I see you and I am forever grateful for the important work you do every day even in the face of adversity 🤍🤍 6/6

To my nurse colleagues; I promise to label all pages of the carbon copy, I promise to continue to write legibly, I promise to handle 3am phone calls with kindness and respect, and I promise to remember my nursing roots throughout my medicine career. 5/6

Nursing taught me how to see patients as whole people, and it showed me the parts of healthcare that doctors do not often see when their patient visit is done. 4/6
