I read recently that when Jimmy Stewart filmed this, he was going through PTSD from his service in WWII, which makes the bridge scene and his angst all the more poignant. I ugly cry when all his friends show up to bail him out at the end.
"It's a Wonderful Life" was made by a Conservative Republican.
It opens with angels speaking in heaven; its plot hinges on divine intervention.
I'm a liberal atheist and the film makes me ugly cry every time.
