Also, with any top program, there is a long list of reasons why an athlete might commit. NIL is a factor that athletes are having to consider that they didn’t before. While it might be one of the reasons that contribute to a decision, it’s not fair to assume it’s the only.

Our comments were intended to show, generally speaking, how some athletes might value NIL/financial incentives more than the guarantee to compete every week. LSU is not the only school with the ability to make offers that are really hard to turn down.

We have no reason to believe that LSU is doing this and it was not our intention to imply that. We shared those examples to highlight how the recruiting landscape is changing & money IS a factor for some athletes in making their final decision.

In a second tweet, we said we’ve heard rumors that athletes have been offered more NIL money to commit during their visits. However in that tweet we didn’t specify that we weren’t referring to LSU, which caused some assumptions to be made.

We responded that we once heard of an athlete being offered a large NIL deal (not at LSU) that ultimately swayed them away from a program that didn’t have the same NIL resources.
