LCNP is therefore a sensor for excess light, and its methionines act as a stress meter to trigger photoprotection when needed! Looking forward to your comments and feedback 😀.

We found that methionines of LCNP are kept reduced under non-stress conditions by SOQ1. As stress builds up oxidation on the methionines of LCNP, the oxidation events don’t damage the protein but instead activate it for function.

Msr activity was not previously recognized to take place in that compartment. SOQ1 is special in that it contains both the Msr domain (a novel fold) and the thioredoxin domain that provides electron for Msr activity in tandem.

I don’t want to believe this, this is so incredibly sad. Jeff Cameron is a wonderful colleague with so much clever insights and creative thinking. He’s going to be dearly missed. He’s the father of 4 kids, consider helping if you can.
