Fun fact: 40 years ago, @DrexelUniv made computer โ and @Apple โ history. Drexel was the 1st in the country to require students to have access to a personal computer, and it created a special partnership to offer Macintoshes (check out the blue "D"). https://t.co/xFdnxPMzfE

Reading this article by @DrexelUniv editor @AlissaFalcone on the impact of the computer lab project that we @teditanzania and @DrexelUniv implemented in Moshi last year energizes me to do more. Thanks to @WashFellowship @IREXintl @usembassytz Take a look! https://t.co/3occvt95W4

Two things that didn't make it into this story: -I wrote this after a digital marketing meeting in which Patricia mentioned her cat's 20,000 TikTok followers. (It *is* a great icebreaker!) -When answering my questions, she made her answers be orange, because of her orange cat.๐งก
โPeople are always surprised when they hear my cat has 20,000 followers,โ said Patricia Kraus, a @DrexelOnline email marketing manager who shares videos of her orange tabby Herman and his daredevil behavior. โItโs a great icebreaker, thatโs for sure!โ https://t.co/xl4nzbUjp2

Happy 130th birthday, @DrexelUniv! ๐๐ On Dec. 17, 1891, the Drexel Institute of Art, Science and Industry was dedicated with a ceremony in Main Building, which was at the time the only building for Drexel. Clearly a lot has changed since then! (1/4)

This is honestly one of the best "fun facts" I've ever learned while working at Drexel and I bring it up more than I probably should.
Another Bond movie, another chance to say: ๐ฃ๏ธThe REAL James Bond was an ornithologist at @AcadNatSci for nearly six decades! https://t.co/W0iSBOFyDV

Even if you didn't work with Billy at Drexel, you've seen him/his work on all the Drexel buses (he was SO proud of the current blue/gold ones), displays, DrexelNow images & everything else he designed over 14 years. Now this tree in Drexel Park. Big-time operations. I miss you.

As someone who has struggled FOR YEARS to write about Drexel's founder, someone who destroyed his personal papers and always avoided the spotlight during his lifetime ... I gasped at this thrilling, eye-opening discovery.
This handwritten letter from @DrexelUniv's founder Anthony J. Drexel was recently discovered by @drexelarchives. Written to his son John R. Drexel in 1890, the letter sheds a warm light on the famously private founder. https://t.co/Bn0UZCQAAI

For anyone at #Drexel wondering who this Return Oversight Committee is sending you emails, here's my Q&A!
This week last year, #Drexel Dragons began working & learning from home, & campus was closing down to the public. How has @DrexelUniv been navigating the pandemic since then? Read this Q&A with Marla Gold, MD, director of the Return Oversight Committee: https://t.co/IQyfXdgvPV

Barbara Johns, who at age 16 led a strike that later became a court case included in Brown v. Board of Education, is a @DrexelUniv alumna. According to her @nytimes obituary, she graduated with a degree in library science.

At 16, Johns led a strike by the student body that ultimately became one of five court cases consolidated into Brown v. Board of Education.
For more than 100 years, a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee has stood at the U.S. Capitol representing Virginia. The statue has now been removed. It's expected to be replaced by a statue honoring civil rights activist Barbara Johns.

Thank you to these deans for sharing their highs & lows of 2020 with me! I was moved by their thoughtful & honest reflections about what it was like leading huge populations of the Drexel community through all of the year's opportunities for change. Plus: this is just part 1!
The deans of @drexelunivโs colleges and schools reflected on the challenges they tackled this year, what they're most proud of, and what they learned from this year. Hereโs what seven #Drexel deans thought about 2020: https://t.co/9o3BESwtGy (1/8)

I've written at least 40 stories related to COVID-19 this year (so far) and this was one of the ones that left me feeling really good. Plus, I got to Zoom with a Dog and then use a picture with said Dog in the article.
This Thanksgiving, Drexel is grateful for all of our Dragons who are committed to making a positive impact in their community. Meet Jeffrey Jordan, who uses his home as a resource hub for the West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood.
