(Not sure past tense of "extend" is right, but SFFA v. Harvard is on the books, and we do have a DOJ and Dept of Ed that are serious about enforcing it, so compliance is at least improving).

I would never support Mamdani because of his socialism, but this story more illustrates the corruption of a system that extended outsized admissions preferences based on race than it is an indictment of him.

3. So yes, it's not surprising that people sort toward others like them romantically. Not surprising that the stats look that way, despite all the doom and gloom on this website. /end.

2. At the risk of putting the point too bluntly, yes, education and innate intelligence heavily influence the composition of those thousand shared references.

1. Admittedly this is self-serving, but most of us toss off a thousand references to shared culture a day, and no matter how good-looking or kind another person is, trying to be in a relationship with someone who doesn't understand those thousand references gets exhausting fast.

Yes and am a bit mystified by confirmation culture in general. It’s polite to confirm, but if you make plans with someone, the default rule should be plans are on unless someone affirmatively cancels.

Ladies: if you say yes to a date, you’ve agreed to go on the date. Playing games like “he needs to confirm or it doesn’t count!!!” because TikTok told you to is a really dumb way to waste your time. Be picky about things that matter, but quit making up rules to be upset about

This is highly age and circumstance specific (know one couple now in their 40s who met at CTY at age 12 and have been together ever since.) Still, mostly right past age 25 or so.

Came across the unfortunate post about work for women being merely Jew daycare and unbidden came into my mind an image of Richard Epstein in my office leading preschool style circle time except he's lecturing on Roman law, and the whole thing is too comic to be offensive.

5. But if you really are drawn to radical, first principles types of arguments, then it does make more sense to lean into branding yourself as a pure libertarian. And thus the phenomenon OP notices. /end.

2. If you are a libertarian who wants to accomplish, say, environmental deregulation, you are probably best off working for a think tank or public interest law firm where you can make the case for environmental deregulation alongside more conventional conservatives. It. .

1. This is sort of correct but sort of misunderstands the incentives at play. Moderate, incremental libertarians are usually better off quietly throwing with whichever political coalition they're closest to and downplaying any disagreements with it.

A problem of libertarianism is that it tends to attract a type of person who, rather than find the imperfect solutions to the hard, messy problems that are most immediate, fixates on the abstract problems three or four rings out that political realities dictate cannot be.

What is something that you thought was a sign of wealth when you were younger?. If someone had a fridge with an ice and water dispenser on the door, I thought they were RICH.
