Back in March, I was delighted to visit Bentswood to break ground on a new community centre at Barn Cottage Rec. The Scouts and Bentswood Hub are now looking to raise the final £30,000. Do you know anybody who may be able to help?:.

A win: back in October, I was one of the 11 sponsors of an animal welfare bill introduced by @LibDems @DannyVet. It will prevent the importation of puppies, kittens and ferrets. The Government accepted Danny’s Bill, and it completed its passage through @HouseofCommons yesterday.

Lib Dem MP and vet Danny Chambers says criminals are smuggling abused puppies into the UK, and his new bill will stop them. 'It’ll smash the business model. No more cropped ears, no more heavily pregnant dogs brought over to give birth.'

A celebration for Mid Sussex's wonderful unpaid carers🫶.In my latest Middy article, I discuss Haywards Heath Town Council's brilliant unpaid carers day to honour the valuable, but all too often overlooked, contribution that these individuals make:

🎙️ Had a great time recording a “one year in” interview with Colin Holden from Mid Sussex Radio today. Hard to believe tomorrow marks the anniversary of the 2024 General Election! Thanks to everyone who’s been part of this journey so far.

Yesterday I spoke against and voted against the Government's Universal Credit and PIP Bill. I shared the story of Sarah from Hassocks who relies on PIP, and I also spoke about unpaid carers and the impact of this Bill on them. The government needs to think again.

Today, I questioned the Defence Secretary about support for children of Armed Forces personnel when they have to change schools because of their parents' jobs. Amy my work experience student helped draft the question. #ArmedForces #WorkExperience

Tomorrow I will be voting to stop the Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payment Bill. It will have dire consequences for the disabled, the long term sick and of course those in their families who care for them.

A thread from my @LibDems colleague Steve Darling, outlining the position that we will be taking on Labour's plans to cut PIP, UC and Carers Allowance to thousands of people who desperately rely on this support.

Westminster has been swirling with rumours, with the Government in a tailspin – over 120 of their own MPs have signed a Reasoned Amendment to kill their new Universal Credit and PIP bill. Some are even calling it a confidence vote in Starmer’s leadership. But what is really going.

Today has been a good day. A meeting I secured between the Minister for Children and Pause—a brilliant charity supporting women who've had children taken into care - happened today. Their work is life-changing and cost-saving.

Wes Streeting's inquiry into maternity care, with a focus on Sussex, is crucial, but immediate improvements are needed to keep mothers and babies safe. Yesterday I spoke to ITV Meridian. (1/2)

The Government's proposed benefit changes could significantly impact those wishing to work. The Department reports that 95,000 working-age claimants receiving carer's allowance will lose their PIP. Could these proposals actually hinder rather than help people stay employed?

I’ve written about the deeply worrying escalation in the Middle East and why the UK must push for diplomacy, not war. I also reflect on justice for survivors of child sexual exploitation following the publication of Baroness Casey's review.
