Heard the gulls going mad at 2.20 this afternoon and rushed outside to see what it was - a White-tailed Eagle heading over Brixham! 😃 Later seen heading down the Teign and over Teignmouth. Very pleased with that garden tick!

Drive over to Torcross and Beesands on Friday in the sunshine. With some help from a much better birder, found the Lesser Scaup and the Ring-necked Duck. On the way back past Slapton Ley, I clocked a big white egret and managed to pull back in and get a better look: GWE 🙂

Tawny Owl was back in exactly the same place last night at 6.30pm 😃

Just had a Tawny Owl on a chimney next to our Brixham garden for nearly 30 mins - very relaxed. Managed to get both children out to see it - and even got a few photos - the owl was not bothered at all! 5-6 metres away. 😮🦉

Gorgeous autumnal ramble round Berry Head this afternoon. 3 late Swallows flying around for some time. Couple of Redwings about too. Also late wild strawberry flowering and fruiting! 😬 Lots of good looking fungi - can anyone ID this one?

Berry Head quarry this morning - right place, right time to see 15 Brent Geese fly past towards the head. No sign of the RNG despite lots of looking. A Peregrine flew over a couple of times. Going through the photos tonight, it appears to have a blue ring on its left leg.

A Black Redstart that popped up around our Brixham garden yesterday. Not seen again today. Finally managed to see the Red-necked Grebe from the top of the Berry Head quarry path though 😃

A Black Redstart has just turned up around our garden and surrounding roofing. 😃 Have had one here most years - though last was an exception.

Lots of Redwing and Song Thrush flight calls over the house tonight. Merlin does a great job of picking them out, even over the noise from the town. The spectrogram is so clear! Here are two - first one is the Redwing’s ‘seeep’ then the ‘tick’ of a Song Thrush. 🙂 .@MerlinBirdID

Whooper Swan and Redwings at Broadsands beach first thing this morning 🙂 Swan very close in at times. Never before noticed how the yellow on the bill continues right up to the eye 👌 @TorbayBirders @DevonBirds

After the rain, I whizzed down to Berry Head to try and catch the Yellow-browed Warbler found by @billmacbirding this morning. Got lucky fairly quickly! Also a Ring-Ouzel around too. 🙂

Couple of hours of amateur seawatching from Shoalstone today 11-1.30. A few Shearwaters - mostly a bit distant for me - but one clear Balearic. Lots of Skuas too. Arctic mostly, I think, but would appreciate help with the pics below - if possible from the murky pixels! 😂
