Late night listening and Steve Jansenโs drumming is getting me all hot and bothered as Iโm listening to Canton.

I found this old Japanese cookery book in my parentsโ collection. My dad probably picked it up or maybe even my grandfather originally. This edition was published in 1958! Iโm curious to go through the recipes and try some.

Remembering Mick, who left this mortal coil 15 years ago. ๐งก Through Steveโs photography we are able to maintain the image of Mick as a beautiful, strong and creative force. His pictures of Mick are the most compelling and intimate of portraits. https://t.co/307UHADIed

I love Steve Jansenโs style of drumming, particularly evident in the Japan song Canton. The two-handed simultaneous strike makes me smile! ๐

Iโm listening to Life Without Buildings by #Japan and blown away as always. Itโs probably my favourite song of theirs. I love how #SteveJansen and #MickKarn played almost note for note together yet Steveโs sound was crisp while Mickโs was fluid. Such an incredible rhythm section.

Growing up in Florida, weโd have the fireplace going (we actually had one!) and the front door open to cool things off on Christmas Day. Today, 40+ years later in NC, it feels comparable. ๐ฅต Iโm in a tank top/vest tonight. Even my southern Italian dog is feeling the heat.

I mean throughout your career, not specifically Abstract Day.

Late night escape watch of Abstract Day performanceโฆ again. ๐ซฃ Your drum setups have always seemed fairly standard @istevejansen. Are there any differences youโve incorporated due to being left handed? Or have I had too much wine when I stay up late watching & had it reversed?๐

I really enjoy the Abstract Day version of Beginning to Melt. Is it possible to explain what you were playing @istevejansen? Obviously I assume the drum was a loop but Iโm curious what you were playing on the keyboard/synth for most of it.

Thereโs something about listening specifically to the drums and bass of Japan. Mick and Steveโs connection was so ridiculously tight. Particularly from Obscure Alternatives to Tin Drum. ๐๐ป

Listening to various songs tonight covering my NZ, Dutch, and Italian faves, and a bit of Japan (the band) for an international vibe. (Highly recommend Carrier Pigeon for a bit of NZ flavour)

Revisiting this old favourite and couldnโt help imagining Mr. Bongo @istevejansen playing bongos along with it. ๐ Dawn Skate 88 - The Video Kid (Bret McKenzie) https://t.co/6i8XsyriDI (when fandoms collide)
