At 2:00 AM, Alhambra Police Officers responded to the 700 block of North Atlantic for a traffic collision. On arrival, officers located a single-car collision with the vehicle on fire. The officers pulled the injured driver from the burning vehicle and walked him to safety.
Last night a traffic stop was conducted for a VC violation. The Officer located a fire extinguisher in the vehicle. K9 Otis was alerted to it. Approx. 50,000 Fentanyl pills were located inside the extinguisher. The driver was arrested for possession of narcotics for sales.
Fun fact: K9’s have 225 million scent receptors, compared to 5 million in humans. The ability to differentiate scent and follow that direction. The portion of a K9’s brain that is dedicated to identifying & remembering scents is 40 times larger than that of humans.

You might’ve spotted K9 Doggo and his handler Officer Hennes, around the city. He’s a 2-year-old German Shepherd who understands commands in Czech. Come and meet them both at National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1!
Our beloved veteran Police Service Dog Enzo turned 10 yesterday (55 years old in dog years)! An Alhambra citizen dropped off a gift for him...yummy dog treats! Please join us in saying “Happy Birthday” to Enzo!!!

: Officers responded to the 100 blk. of N. Third St. for a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, they contacted the individual, who stated she was parked there to get gas. Officers observed a folded-up piece of foil w/ residue on the center console in plain sight.
It’s with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Reserve Police Captain Mike Nolan, who passed on Jan. 21, 2023.
Captain Nolan served w/ Alhambra PD for 45 years. We will truly miss Mike & are grateful for the decades of service he provided to the Alhambra community.
Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of retired police K9 Enzo, who passed away this morning @ 13 y/o. From April 2012-March 2019, he served Alhambra w/ unmatched valor & loyalty. As we say goodbye, we celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind. Rest easy, Enzo.
Today, we held a formal promotional and swearing-in ceremony. The APD family gained 3 corporals, 2 sergeants, and 1 lieutenant. We also added 7 police officers, a dispatcher, a clerk, and 2 police service officers. Congratulations to all!
Ofrc. responded to Almansor Park this morning, at approx. 6:50AM for a call of a female in her late 60's found in the lake. Once on scene, they determined the female was deceased. Alh. Det. are currently on scene and it is not believed there is anyone of interest at this point.

Your APD responded to Chestnut St./Marengo Ave. re: a vandalism call. The suspect, Michael Garcia of Alhambra, CA, stated he wasn't responsible for the graffiti, but the paint residue on his fingers showed otherwise.
Thanks to the responding officers, the community for calling 911, and Home Depot Loss Prevention, the suspects were taken into custody without incident. This loaded firearm was in the suspect’s getaway vehicle. A ghost gun was taken off the streets.
🚨ARREST MADE: Recently, APD responded to Atlantic/Valley Blvd re: a traffic collision. The suspect vehicle fled & Officers found the injured pedestrian, who was taken to the hospital.

This evening, our officers located 4 different vehicles parked around the city that had a total of 57 unpaid parking tickets. California law states that a vehicle can be towed after having 5 or more unpaid parking tickets. As a result, each vehicle was towed.
