Sweden confirming that, even after FIFA’s latest decision, they will at this time not change their position on refusing to play against Russia.
Meaning Sweden are right now ready to miss out on a World Cup spot in order not to play against Russia
This woman among other things walked barefoot and pregnant over the Sahara desert to get to Spain and give her family a better life, she then worked 2-3 jobs while raising her boys.
Mamá Williams is a superhero and deserve to be very proud 👏🏻
One of my favourite things in Spanish football this season is that
@SDHuesca
's captain Jorge Pulido change his captain armband for every of their 21 away matches in Segunda, and with it teach us about Spain.
Here's the story (Thread) 👇
Do we cry or laugh or both at this?
Cristobal got sent off with a direct red. VAR overturns it, they have to go get him from the dressingroom.
He comes back out, goes head to head with Stuani, gets his second yellow and sent off again 😂
Villarreal - Celta de Vigo tonight... and there is one game and one moment that is impossible not to think of whenever the two play each other.
The Iago Aspas tears.
When he was 20 years old Jesus Navas won his first Europa League (then Uefa Cup) trophy, at 21 he won his second and a few months after that he carried the coffin of his younger teammate and very close friend Antonio Puerta.
Last time Real Betis won Copa del Rey, 5 year-old Juan Miranda travelled to Madrid to see the final, a final in which 23 year old Joaquín won with Betis
Today 22 year old Miranda scored the winning penalty so that 40 year old Betis captain Joaquín could lift the trophy
It's Real Sociedad not "Sociedad"
It's Athletic Club not "Atletico Bilbao"
It's Atlético de Madrid not "Athletico Madrid"
Especially if you work in media - just get it right.
It's quite crazy when you think about what Guardiola did with Sergio Busquets
He benched Yaya Touré, to in LaLiga start a 20-year-old who had not played any senior football at all, except for one season in the Spanish FOURTH division.
Who even think of doing that?
More than showing that shirt of in his goal celebration, Lionel Messi has been playing this entire match with Maradona's shirt on him under his own. Beautiful.
For context: Imanol has been a Real Sociedad fan all his life, played in the youth teams and first team, coached the youth teams and now led the club to their first trophy in 34 years.
He asked to be excused and for a moment leave the "coach mode" to enter the "supporter mode"
Fun fact. Malmö will play a Europa League away match that is closer than any of their away matches in the Swedish league.
Distance between the Malmö and København stadiums is 43 km.
Distance between the Malmö and Helsingborg stadiums is 73km.
KESSIE winning El Clásico and possibly LaLiga for Barcelona on the day Spain celebrate father’s day, celebrating as he always does, with a tribute to his late father who died when he was 11
Messi didn't ruin Barça (if now anyone actually believes that)... if anything the club would be way worse off today if it weren't for him.
Rosell, Bartomeu and co... are the ones that ruined the club and they did it all straight in front of our eyes for over 10 years.
Today I want to tell you the story of Pelayo Novo. A football player, tennis player but more than anything a fantastic and inspiring person
Tragically yesterday at only 32, he was found dead, hit by a train in his home town Oviedo
But these are the stories to remember him by
We take it again. This is Pau Torres in 1997 he was born in Villarreal a town of only 50,000, at the age of 6 he joined the clubs youth teams. Today he was vital as his Villarreal won their first ever trophy and became the team from the smallest town to ever win a European title!
Americans commentating on this with “but… where do they park?”… is both quite funny and extremely sad.
So happy not to live or have grown up in a place were you’d need a car to go everywhere and anywhere
Alexia grew up watching her heroes play at Camp Nou but never dreamt of doing it herself because she was a girl - it was impossible. Today she played at Camp Nou in front of 91,553, her shirt flying in the air in the stands outside the stadium.
So am I getting this right... Real Sociedad - Manchester United can't be played in Spain because of the pandemic so it will be played in Italy. While Molde - Hoffenheim can't be played in Norway because of the pandemic so it will be played in Spain.
In 2013 Villarreal youth players Pau Torres and Alfonso Pedraza were among the fans storming the pitch to celebrate, as Bruno Soriano led the club back to LaLiga
Tonight Bruno will celebrate, as Pau Torres and Pedraza lift Villarreal’s first ever trophy
Really dislike this from Leeds... We live in a toxic digital world where it's really easy to attack someone from behind a screen. For a club to basically send the "twitter mob" after one person just because they don't agree with her opinion... just not ok in any way.
The “kids” that are taking Real Sociedad to new heights in Europe.
Most of them joined the club at the ages 12-14 (the clubs youngest team is U13), several of them were ball boys last time La Real played in the Champions League.
I’ve been to 24 stadiums in Spain and I often get the question, which one is your favorite? And I say it’s impossible to pick one. But today I’ve made the decision, my second visit at Benito Vallamarín and people... this is my favorite stadium in Spain!
This is what Messi has been chasing his entire career.
Remember him addressing years ago how much it hurt being criticized in Arg “I started to believe that everything was my fault. They said I didn’t feel pride for the shirt but I love Argentina”
What’s more shocking than Messi wanting to leave Barcelona is the fact that he stayed for this long, considering this mismanagement has been going on for about 10 years, if anything it shows his dedication to the club
Villarreal came to Balaídos the day Aspas returned. At halftime, the visitors were 2-0 up.
When the final whistle sounded however Aspas had scored twice, Celta had won 3-2. Iago broke down in tears, and couldn't stop crying.
As a young player Xavi was constantly compared to Guardiola and criticised for not being enough like Pep to a point where it nearly broke him and he almost left the club.
Whenever he returns to coach Barcelona he’ll be back in that position again constantly compared to Guardiola
If you missed it (you probably live under a rock) but on Saturday Athletic Club became Copa del Rey champions, lifting their first major trophy in over 40 years!
So I guess it's time to make a 🧵on why Copa del Rey is and to some point always been Athletic Club's tournament
After that nothing could stop him and he scored 10 goals in 10 matches, saving Celta from relegation and writing yet another chapter in the book about Celta de Aspas.
So can we please just kick these team’s out of everything now?
So..
PSG CL-champions
Roma - Villarreal in EL final
Sevilla topping LaLiga
Atalanta topping Serie A
Leicester topping PL
Oh and Barça please hand over that Copa trophy to Athletic
There’s a lot of things that make Saturday’s Copa del Rey final special... one of them is the amount of players that will be on that pitch representing the club they’ve supported since they were kids
"The Czech FA executive committee, staff members and players of the national team agreed it's not possible to play against the Russian national team in the current situation, not even on the neutral venue.
We all want the war to end as soon as possible."
"I collapsed, I had a lot of pressure on me, the whole city waited for me to come back, for me to alone win the match"
"I had been out for three months, I didn't know how I was physically after so long without playing, it was a feeling of liberation"
Also worth mentioning Pep was already under a lot of pressure when he did that, having lost away to LaLiga newcomers Numancia the weekend before.
Fair to say people thought he was a bit insane.
Worked out though Busi and Pep ended the season winning EVERYTHING together
MARKUS ROSENBERG!!!
In the 6th added minute, in his last ever home match, in HIS match, Markus Rosenberg wins Malmö the match!

Alexander Isak is now offically the Swede who scored the most goals in one LaLiga season, beating the record previously held by Zlatan Ibrahimovic!
17 goals!
In 2009 Celta de Vigo were on the verge of relegation to Segunda B. A kid called Iago Aspas came off the bench to make his Balaídos debut, he scored two goals. He saved Celta. He cried.
In Spanish football we are not spoiled with good handmade tifos, and that’s one of the main reasons I want Alavés back in LaLiga. Because they make them, they put in the work and they do it so well… here are some of their many great ones!
When Deschamps says Le Normand is good but that they don’t watch him that often because he is in a club you only see when they play Barça or Real Madrid, he is basically admitting that he is not doing his job properly. 🤷🏼♀️
Real Sociedad will play Champions League football next season with a coach that previously coached nine of his current first team players at youth level... let that sink in for a bit.
Elustondo, Oyarzabal, Zubeldia, Zubimendi, Guevara, Le Normand, Aihen, Gorosabel, Barrenetxea
If you need some motivation, just look at this. After 3 years, one month and one day Bruno Soriano returns to a football pitch.
He is 36 years old. Most people would have given up, retired, he didn’t. Three years, two surgeries and several set-backs later BRUNO is back!
What went on in Jesus Navas head in that moment only he knows. But one thing that is very clear is that lifting that trophy wasn't just about winning a football tournament for him. It was a lot more than that.
It's time to make a thread about Gabri Veiga, the 20-year-old all of Spain is talking about.
8 goals and 3 assists in 22 appearances during his first season as a first-team player.
But who is "El niño de Porriño"?
Any club that decide to play a home match in a fourth kit, that they are selling for 180€… deserve to lose.
Sorry but this is not what football is about.
The entire city was waiting for one thing, for Iago Aspas to come back and save them.
"Everyone stopped me in the streets to see 'how is your recovery, when will you be back to help the team'"
When Sevilla with Antonio Puerta won their second Uefa Cup trophy in 2007, Aitor Puerta was in the stadium for the final, in his mothers belly.
Three months later Antonio Puerta died and two months after that Aitor, his son, was born.
So how could Jesus Navas not cry when he went to lift the trophy that is so associated with his friends that are no longer here.
While wearing the number Puerta used to wear and the captain armband that used to sit around Reyes arm?
After his death Sevilla wanted to retire Antonio Puertas number 16 but the federation wouldn't let them.
Instead the shirt was reserved for youth players. And when Navas returned to the club in 2017 it was agreed that he would take over the shirt number once worn by his friend
11 years ago today Aspas made his Balaídos debut for Celta, he was 20 years old and that day he saved the club from potentially going out of business.
Celta were struggling in the bottom of the Spanish second division and it was very likely they would not survive a relegation
