In Mbengue/Bindon we had the second worst defence in the league last season for shots on our goal (only Bristol Rovers faced more) and Joel Pereira made the most saves in the division. I’m more than happy with the prospect of O’Connor/Williams partnership. No nonsense. #ReadingFC

First thoughts on GMac link like most was WTF? Second thought is, probably still better/fitter than Kelvin E whilst 38 years old, last seasons stats suggest that. Maybe if Garcia gets snapped up late in the window it’s a clever short term solution. Still very very odd. #ReadingFC

If ever there’s an example of why we need a midfielder that finds space between the lines this is it. Look at the chain reaction it causes! Defenders having to commit themselves, making spaces to exploit. This is what we need more of. #ReadingFC

Might not be the dominating striker we crave but in Marriott we’ve a senior forward with good movement and a decent finisher in our ranks tied down for 3 years. Been a while since we had a Le Fondre or Cureton type, and we know just how important they can be. #ReadingFC
MARRIOTT IS A ROYAL 💙 We are delighted to confirm the signing of Jack Marriott from Wrexham for an undisclosed fee 👇

Been critical of Hunt but we didn’t sit back like people are saying. Lane stayed high, Garcia was pressing the goalkeeper and centre back. We’d have been better getting all men behind the ball in my opinion and closing the spaces. We looked stretched if anything. #ReadingFC

What a sickener. Subs made sense at the time but we lost our combinations. Lanes been so underwhelming so far, missed Dan K’s ball retention. Garcia slow getting back, pressing lost causes when he didn’t need to. Frustrating end to what was a mostly positive afternoon. #ReadingFC

Great half. Actually playing in the dangerous areas of the pitch, in between the lines. That’s what Elliott gives us. Soft but I think Burns is pushed midair for their goal. Great to see some life in the team, fantastic goals as well. Big 45 ahead. #ReadingFC

That match does nothing but highlight just how wrong Hunts been getting things. The difference Elliott makes, and how bad we were before that. I just can’t see any logic in what he’s been trying to do. Everyone’s levels lifted with Ben on. Has to learn from that! #ReadingFC

Seen some want Stickland to start over Burns. Burns has been shifted to his weaker side to accommodate Stickland and still outperforms him. Burns RCB with left footed Williams LCB is the way to go until Paudie returns. #ReadingFC

Amazed some defend Hunt yesterday. No league goals this season, starts both creative midfielders on the bench at home. First shot on target 86th min from 25 yards. He showed we have no identity if we’re adjusting to play “second ball game” at home v AFC Wimbledon. #ReadingFC

If a centre back has the ball, one CM comes and stands next to you, whilst the other two clearly looked instructed by Hunt to run forward to the final third, don’t expect a good pass into midfield because there isn’t one by our own doing. It’s poor tactics! #ReadingFC
Burns to Stickland. Stickland to Burns. Burns back to Stickland. Wing has dropped behind our own goal to collect the ball, Savage has run half way down the tunnel screaming for it. Burns instead picks out Stickland. He gives it to Pereira HOOF! #TheReadingWay #readingfc

As much as I feel with my completely unqualified opinion that Noel didn’t quite get it right today he’s also dealing with a huge drop in quality of players. Since he took over we’ve lost Bindon, Amadou, Knibbs and Smith. You’d have to be drunk to say the bulk of the players

“Second ball game”. We’re playing Wimbledon at home and instead of trying to pass through lines with our ball players we’ve played right into their game plan and gone toe to toe at “second ball game”. Seriously concerning take. #ReadingFC
Paddy Lane hopefully back next weekend- calf issue. Dorsett is back but Williams was preferred. Elliott not put on as 'it was a second ball game' and Doyle offered more. Hunt felt #readingfc 'did enough to get something'

Intrigued to know who fans would want if Noel ever did go. Ainsworth will be desperate for it obviously. Luke Williams maybe, Johnnie Jackson I’d have on the list. Trying to think of other names, who is there? #ReadingFC

Wing getting the ball between the centre backs is so flawed. Commits none of the opposition to move. Tactically Noel seems miles off it, it’s sad but unfortunately it’s true. Needs a big half to change the feeling here. A loss is disastrous even at this stage. #ReadingFC

I like all our midfielders, but one of Doyle or Elliott need to be playing especially at home. They’re your players that commit opposition defenders and take players out the game. Feels like a team to get a point on the board, not one all out to win. #ReadingFC

Linesman must of been really battling with himself here.
