Bleak, desolate, yet oddly uplifting in moments. George Romero may not have been happy with a smaller-scale film than he envisioned, but I think it's superb. One of my top 15 horror films.

I love this flick. The over-the-top acting, the clunky dialog, the anachronistic style (it looked dated even in 1981) ... somehow it adds up to a delightfully charming movie with a ton of heart.

Below is the most clueless movie take I've seen in a long time. The film is literally about how women can't win in a misogynistic world because most men just want a hot chick with an toddler brain. They all reject her as soon as she starts developing her own agency.
This is the most misogynistic film I’ve seen. A perverse man kidnaps a suicidal woman then transplants her brain (without her consent) with the brain of her foetus. She’s emancipated by having sex with lots of men (yawn). This film is not avant-garde, it’s glorified pedophilia.
