A new chapter for Aleph Zero & Common

Here are the key highlights from @Common__App!.

Today, we’re laying the foundation for something far greater than Layer 1. We’re building the missing privacy layer for all of crypto, one that has the power to redefine how users, developers, and entire ecosystems experience privacy across chains.

As the Shielder Network develops, validators will be able to become Relayers – the critical operators within the privacy infrastructure, responsible for facilitating shielded transactions and maintaining network integrity.

Next stop: staking. L1 rewards remain in place to maintain network stability, but a gradual transition to L2 relayers is underway. Full details coming in the next few days.

To be transparent: creating a shielded blockchain is a long-term vision, not an immediate product roadmap item. While it’s an exciting direction, it’s currently in the conceptual phase. As we advance the technology, we’ll share concrete plans and timelines when the time is right.

In Q2 2026, we'll revisit our Layer 1 ambitions with a bold vision: creating a sovereign, EVM-compatible, privacy-focused blockchain (shielded blockchain) that leverages our zero-knowledge research and Common’s privacy infrastructure.
