Thank you to the Fort McMurray area residents who took a pledge to reduce human-caused wildfires. The winner of the Take the Pledge draw took to the skies in an educational helicopter tour, learning about how wildfires are managed, impact the landscape, and shape our ecosystems.

This hunting season, make sure your campfire doesn't lead to a wildfire. Vegetation is extremely flammable in the fall, and even a small fire can become a wildfire if it isn't extinguished properly. Always take the time to soak your fire, stir the ashes and soak them again.

Partnerships between agencies are key in wildland firefighting. The Northwest Compact is adding two new members: California and Nevada. We are grateful for the help we've received from our partners and glad to return the favour in their time of need.

Flying a drone near or over a wildfire endangers our staff and delays firefighting operations. You could face an automatic court appearance for putting aircraft and people at risk. Please give our firefighters the space they need to work safely. More info: https://t.co/2RM82VIiK1

If you are going camping this long weekend, be sure to do so safely. Never leave a campfire unattended and always fully extinguish it when you are done. Soak it, stir it and soak it again, until the coals are cool to the touch.

Wildfire danger goes up in hot, dry conditions. Fire advisories are now in effect in several areas of the province. Safe campfires are still allowed, but please use caution as wildfires can start and spread easily. Visit https://t.co/DSxx2JMceO to view a map of the advisories.
