Sonic Boom writer Alan Denton was not aware of this recurring trend in Sonic cartoons, putting him in a depressive state that he has likely still not recovered from.
To quote Eggman in the final episode of Sonic Boom:
"Well, there's always next season."
At last! Modern technology has finally given us what we've all been dreaming of: A Lion King where they're just regular animals who walk around like normal.
For my birthday this year, my wife asked what kind of cake she should make... and I told her that, honestly, I've always wanted to try Peach's thank-you cake from the end of Super Mario 64.
And so, it was done.
Yuuuup. I definitely had to pirate multiple shows I've worked on just to get access to an archive copy for my records.
...The majority of them, in fact.
Friendly reminder that the people who complained about the Sonic movie design had all better buy tickets or else no studio's ever going to do something like this again.
I got a Sonic Boom fan script emailed to me from a 10-year-old. I gotta say, I love his chaotic energy. It's actually legit really funny? I now firmly believe that every writers room should a 10-year-old on staff.
(And yes, I got his mother's permission before sharing this)
I just found a thread of a dozen or so of these Knuckles "meme approval" videos and I don't know what reality is anymore.
To everyone who worked on Sonic Boom, this may be our legacy.
Just think... if they never changed that original terrible design or hired Tyson Hesse, the first movie probably would've flopped. But instead, there's a sequel coming out, another one in development, and now a Knuckles TV series with Idris Elba. We're truly in the best timeline.
There's a moment in a season 5 episode of The Simpsons where Homer starts picking letters off Maggie's birthday cake until Marge shoo's him away, saying, "I made a special cake for you to ruin. It's over there!"
For my birthday this year, my wife made me that cake.
I love it.
With this Sonic sequel coming out next week, can we take a moment to appreciate how Colleen O'Shaughnessey is the second lead voice actor, between Ben Schwartz and Idris Elba? And how stuff like this almost NEVER happens in studio movies?
For any folks who still haven't seen Sonic Boom, let me give you an idea of what the show was like with this clip. It's the first joke from the season 1 episode "Counter Productive." This is how the episode STARTED.
I'll never forget how, for our season finale episode, all the heroes on our action cartoon spent the entire episode attempting to assemble an IKEA bookshelf. Man, the stuff we got away with...
I remember pitching the line in the room: "That's why, on the first day, you gotta beat up the biggest 5-year-old in the yard!"
...Followed immediately by, "What?! Don't actually type that in the script!"
I'm still so flummoxed by the news that Discovery is cutting down on all animation to focus on unscripted. Like, even from a purely corporate profit standpoint... You guys don't think you can make money with Bugs Bunny? Or Scooby Doo? Or Batman???
A live-action ‘POWERPUFFS GIRLS’ series is in the works at The CW.
The series will follow them as young adults who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting.

For my birthday this year, my wife asked me what kind of cake I'd like. And I said that the monster cake from Breath of the Wild always looked pretty good to me...
Roger, you were an amazing Sonic. But more important, you're a generous talent and a good friend. I do not envy the next voice actor who has to fill these cargo shorts-- err, shoes.
Every animator throughout history: "(Sigh) I *wish* these were photorealistic animals who stood around and did nothing, but alas..."
TODAY THAT CHANGES!!
Sonic Boom: The Complete Series Blu-ray and Steelbook is on sale right now. The collection includes both Season 1 and 2 of the fan-favorite animated series.
I remember this one. We were in the writers room, and a character in the script asked Sonic if he was capable. I said, with no real direction, "Capable is my middle name!"
Then, like an old vaudeville act,
@ItsGregHahn
swooped in with the punchline.
2020 will be the first year in a decade a movie in the
#MCU
won't finish as the highest-grossing superhero flick of the year. Instead, the title is set to go
#SonicTheHedgehog
.
These Sonic Colors clips give me uncomfortable flashbacks to when Rise of Lyric first came out & I tweeted a joke about the Knuckles jump glitch, only to then see an article titled "New Sonic Game So Bad Even Show's Writers Making Fun of It," and, my friends, I nearly died inside
Silly question but do you think Sonic is so excited for the World's Largest Rubber Band Ball in the trailer because he remembers how much fun he had at the World's Largest Ball of Twine?
